A Non-Traditional Thank You...

To Our Parents

  • Thank you for telling me "No" sometimes. (Ton & Lis)
  • Thank you for not ever badmouthing each other (Ton & Lis)
  • Thank you for reprimanding us when we were mean to our sisters.  Now they're our best friends. (Ton & Lis)
  • Thank you for grounding me when I did something wrong.  (Lis.  You know Tony never DID anything wrong!)
  • Thank you for working two jobs (and sometimes three).  You ALL did it!  (Ton & Lis)
  • Thank you for letting me be the favorite.  (Tony)
  • Thank you for working two jobs (and sometimes three) and still making it to basketball, football, baseball, softball, volleyball, and t-ball games, tennis matches, band concerts, patent-teacher conferences, school plays, music programs, and so many other events. (Ton & Lis)
  • Thank you for not forcing me to eat everything on my plate. (Tony)
  • Thank you for letting me play in the mud or rain. (Ton & Lis)
  • Thank you for letting me drive the car on back roads way before I ever got a permit. (Lis)
  • Thank you for letting me make my own decisions, even if you knew they were going to turn out disastrous. (Tony & Lis)
  • Thank you for not getting TOO mad when I use metal in the microwave and almost blew the house up.  (Lis)
  • Thank you for not judging us after tailgating with us.  Heck, thanks for teaching us some new tailgating tricks! (Tony & Lis)
  • Thank you for making me brush my teeth every night and making me make my bed every morning. (Lis)
  • Thank you for not buying me everything on my Christmas list. (Ton & Lis)
  • Thank you for making me do my homework right when I got home. (Ton & Lis)
  • Thank you for calling me a "quitter" when I quit band.  It really made me think. (Lis)
  • Thank you for encouraging me and teaching me how to do all (well, almost) the things that only boys are supposed to do.  (Lis)
  • Thank you for leaving me with my sister.  It toughened me up: got hit in the head with a metal bat and got hives.  (Tony)
  • Thank you for making me return the bottle of Elmer's School Glue that I stole from Buy-Rite when I was 9.  (Lis)
  • Thank you for letting me choose whatever sports team, regardless of city or talent, that I wanted to root for. (Tony)
  • Thank you for sometimes not asking any questions, just giving me a hug and letting me go to my room, especially during the teenage years. (Lis)
  • Thank you for not buying me a brand new or even a nearly new car.  I really appreciate my own now.  (Ton & Lis)
  • Thank you for letting me use Sun-In in my hair, even though you probably knew it would look ridiculous (and it did).  (Lis)
  • Thank you for choosing to live next to the very best neighbors in the world!  (Tony)
  • Thank you for teaching me how to change a tire and start a fire. (Ton & Lis)
  • Thank you for teaching me the Golden Rule, even though I don't always follow it. (Ton & Lis)

Lots of thanks and much love,
Tony & Lis

Starting to Feel Pregnant

By NO means am I complaining... most of you women have been through this (multiple times), so I do not want to sound like a wimp.  I did, however, have my first achy day today.  I was a bit surprised even though I have read so much about what to expect.  I guess everyone is right when they say you have no idea until...

I was on my way to work, and I got this terrible cramping in my lower abdomen and along my left side.  I also had some lower back pain that felt more like nerve twinges.  I wasn't nervous because I know this is totally normal.  I was just....

Surprised, I guess.  It hit like a brick and was almost paralyzing.  It went away after I got out of the car and walked away.  I think that my pants were a little too tight and that I was crunched up a bit in the car.  Oops...

When I think about it, I really am relieved because it's just another reminder that Baby Kruse is growing and developing every day!  So, I think I will just call them love aches.  It's amazing how things change so much from day to day, but we don't realize it every day.  :)

Week 21 Ultrasound

We have made it past the halfway point, and our most recent ultrasound appointment was really exciting.  Tony was an expert at identifying hands, feet, umbilical cord, the four chambers of the heart, and pretty much everything else.  Elissa stunk at that!!! Here are a couple of pictures that we were given.
